The fifth round of the third tournament of Women’s Grand Prix Series turned out successful for the chess players who played with white pieces. Bela Khotenashvili of Georgia (2514) won her game.
Bela was a favorite against one of the outsiders Guliskhan Nakhbayeva of Kazakhstan (2307). Khotenashvili beat her opponent on the 43rd move and is in the 5th place with 3.0 points.
Indians Humpy Koneru (2607) and Harika Dronavalli (2475) are leading the tournament with 4.0-4.0 points. Xue Zhao of China (2579) and Kateryna Lahno of Ukraine (2532) have 3.5-3.5 points.
In the 6th round Khotenashvili will face Olga Girya of Russia (2439) who is in the 9th place with 2.0 points.
Grand Prix series consist of 6 stages and world’s 18 best women chess players are participating in it. Each of them will compete in four stages.
