The first tournament of Grand Prix 2013-2014 started in the city of Switzerland, Geneva. There are 12 participants in this tournament and among them are 2 Georgian players. In the first round Khotenashvili (2505) played against Chinese Venzhun Zhu (2544) with white pieces and Dzagnidze played draw with Alexandra Kosteniuk (2491).

Other four matches of the first round ended with the following result: Tatiana Kosnitseva (Russia, 2517)- Yifan Hou (China, 2617) 0.5:0.5; Tuvshintugs Batchimeg (Mongolia, 2298)- Ana Ushenina (Ukraine, 2491) 0.5:0.5; Viktorija Cmylite (Lithuania, 2522)- Katerina Lanho (Ukraine, 2548) 0.5:0.5; Anna Muzichuk (Slovenia, 2298)-Olga Giria (Russia, 2463) 1:0;

In the second round Khotenashvili plays against Hou, Dzagnidze against Kosintseva with white pieces.

Chess players will play 11 rounds and have only two day offs: May 7 and 12.

As you know each player plays for four-four tournament. Their total result will be calculated according to the result of each round.

As we have already reported, according to the decision of FIDE, the v stage of Grand Prix will be held in Tbilisi too, the next round is held in 2014, from June 18 to July 2.

Grand Prix contains 6 rounds: 60 000 is prize money for each round, 1^st place- 10 000 EUR (+260 points), 2^nd place- 8 250 (+130 points), 3^rd round – 6 750 (+120points), 4^th place – 5 750 (+90points), 5^th place – 5000 (+80 points), 6^th place – 4 500 (+70 points), 7^th round- 4 250 (+60), 8^th round- 4 000 (+50), 9^th – 3 250 (+40), 10^th – 3 000 (+30), 11^th – 2 750 (+20), 12^th – 2 500 (+10).

The winner of Grand Prix, in 2015 will play against the current champion for gaining title of the best player of the planet. Now Ana Ushenina (Ukraine) is the current champion, last year she won with knock-out system. This year, for keeping the title Ushenina plays against Hou Yifan (China) twice champion of world ad winner of Grand Prix 2011-12.
