The Georgian Men's Team Is in Top 7!

 

After 5 rounds of the 41st Olympiad 7 men’s team are leading with 9 points and Georgia is among the leaders.

This time the Georgian chess players beat Belgium 3:1. Baadur Jobava (2713) won over Luc Winants (2545), Gaioz Nigaldze (2542) – Stefan Docx (2491). Mikheil Mchedlishvili (2618) and Levan Pantsulaia (2581) played draws with Bart Michiels (2535) and Tanguy Ringoir (2508).

The Georgian men’s team is in the 7th place. Azerbaijan, Serbia, Kazakhstan, Bulgaria, Cuba and Uzbekistan are ahead.

On August 8 the Georgians will play Azerbaijan.

The Georgian women’s team played lost to Russia 1.5:2.5 and is in the 19th place with 7.0 points.

Bela Khotenashvili (2494) failed to Valentina Gunina (2524). Other three games finished draw. Nana Dzagnidze (2550) played draw with Kateryna Lahno (2540), Lela Javakhishvili (2478) – with Alexandra Kosteniuk (2531) and Salome Melia (2475) – with Natalia Pogonina (2479).

China, Hungary and Russia are leading with 10-10 points. Netherlands, Poland and Serbia are one point behind them.

In the next round the Georgian women’s team will face Latvia, China – Hungary, Serbia – Russia, Netherlands – Poland.
