2010 World Championship has finished as expected – team USA has won the gold medals of the tournament by winning the final game in style, not giving any chance to the hosts Turkey, with a score of 81:64.
In despite of the fact that Mike Krzyzewski’s team was not United States’ main squad his team had not lost any game in the competition and nobody was in doubt of who is going to win the title.
Kevin Durant showed an outstanding game in every match and the final game against Turkey was not an exception. “Oklahoma City” forward dropped in 28 points which was another reason why he became tournament’s MVP.
Durant completed the competition’s best five players’ squad which included Turkoglu (TUR), Kleiza (LTU), Scola (ARG), and Teodosidic (SRB) besides Kevin.
The bronze medals went to the perfect Lithuanian side, who gave no chance for the Serbian team in the match for the bronze medals. Ex-Yugoslavians opposed Baltic team only in the first quarter. Lithuania was leading as match as by 20 points but Serbians managed to cut the lead down to 11 in the last quarter of the clash. Linas Kleiza played another great match scoring 33 points in 35 minutes with adding 7 rebounds and 4 assists along with 3 steals. Note, that Kleiza was a part of Greek side “Olympiacos” but starting next season he will perform for Toronto “Raptors”.
Argentina finished in the fifth placed after a surprise victory over ex-world champions Spain with a score of 86:81. It should be said that Argentina almost gave up a 17 point lead. Argentinean Luis Scola scored 22 points and grabbed 11 rebounds, while his teammate Carlos Delfino scored a team-high 27 points. Game high points-statistic had Portland “Trail Blazers” Spaniard Rudy Fernandes with 31.
