Unsuccessful Start, but Everything is Ahead

The first international tournament of 2011 started unsuccessfully for Georgian National Judo Team. Today started the most prestige tournament (prize money 200 000 $) World Masterts started in the capital of Azerbaijan, Baku.  Today were found out champions in 7 weight categories, first three categories in men and first four categories in women. As a rule, only those judokas who have high rating participate in this tournament.  None of Georgian woman participated at this tournament due to such rule. As for Georgian men, six judokas were invited there. Two of them –Amiran Papinashvili and Davit Asumbani participated at World Masters. But none of them managed to became champion in 60 weight category.
Amiran Papinashvili started competing at Baku World Masters with beating Italian Elyo Verde. Georgian sportsman awarded yoko and went through quarter final.  Due to going through the 1/4final he automatically gained 80 rating points. With going through the semi-final he would gain 160 points, but he could not manage to beat World Champion Rishod Sobirov of Uzbekistan.

Davit Asumbani who is on the 16th place in world rating won over European champion Arsen Galstyan of Russia with awarding ippone at the 5th minutes. Galstyan wrestled against two opponents after Asumbani and he gained 240 rating points with going through the final. Champion in this weight category became Siborov, who beat Papinashvili. He gained 400 rating points and awarded with 6 000 $.

There were not Georgian participants in 66anf 73 weight categories.  Tsagaanbaatar Hashbaatar of Mongolia became champion in 66 weight category as for champion in 73rd category, Ki –Chu Vang of South Korea won over Russian Mansur Isaev and became champion.
As it was expected, Japanese succeeded in Women’s Masters. In 48 and 52 weight categories were held Japanese final.

Tomorrow champions will be found out in men’s four and women’s three categories. Levan Tsiklauri (81 kg), Varlam Liparteliani (90 kg), Levan Zhorzholiani (100 kg) and Zviad Khanjaliashvili (+100 kg) will represent Georgia.
Tsiklauri will wrestle against Japanese Takahiro Nakai. In case of victory, he will wrestle against the winner between Aljaz Sedej of Slovenia and Tomislan Marianovic of Croatia. 81 weight category is the only one, which lacks of leaders. World Champion Jae-Bum Kim could not arrive in Baku due to injury.
Liparteliani wrestles against Uzbek Nabiev in his first fight. In case of victory he will wrestle against Japnaese Daiki Nishiami or Azerbaijani Elmar Gasimov.
Khanjaleishvili starts competing with Japanese Keiji Suzuku. Winner will wrestle against Japanese Janusz Vuynarovic or Belarus Ihar Makaru.
