Two Georgians Are in Top 10


The 7th round of Istanbul Chess Festival was successful for Georgian chess players - Giorgi Bagaturov (2447) and Sophio Gvetadze (2355) celebrated their victories.
Bagaturov beat Turkish Emir Ozturk (2208) with black pieces. Gvetadze defeated Syrian Iaser Taveel (2113) with white pieces. Georgian players collected 6-6 points and are in the 7th and 10th places among 350 participants.
Georgian players will play with black pieces in the 8th round. Iranian Shoojat Ghane (2368) will be opponent of Bagaturov, Gvetadze will play against Ukrainian Eldar Gasanov (2482).
After 7 rounds, three chess players Russian Renat Bigaliyev (2412), Ukrainian Andrei Samec (2618) and Turkish Meilis Anaberdyev (2476) who lost only half points are leading Istanbul Chess Festival. Chess Festival is divided into 9 rounds. 14 500 USD is prize money and winner will get 2 000 USD.
