There was opened perfect sport complex in Kvemo Kartli, main profile of this centre will be basketball. Mikheil Saakashvili President of Georgia, Ministers of Sport and Youth Affairs of Georgia and Azerbaijan, Governer of Kvemo Kartli and other officials visited Marneuli.
Besik Liparteliani President of Basketball Federation and Giorgi Zabakhaidze director of Super League also attended opening ceremony. The first match in this centre was held between “Energy-Invest” Rustavi and MIA.
It was the last match of two players of MIA – Davit Berishvili and Levan Mikaberidze. Preident of Georgia kicked the start kick in this match. MIA managed to win over the rival – 90:53.
The gym has ideal conditions – training centre, shower- bathes, resting and changing rooms. The centre is for 500 spectators.
It is big step in developing basketball in Marneuli. This region has basketball team – “Inter”, which competes at U-16 championship, but there is a wish to establish team which will compete at Super League.
