Georgian chess players are competing unsuccessfully at 12th European Individual Championship which is underway in the city of France, Aix les Bains. After 6 rounds, Levan Pantsulaia (2595) and Baadur Jobava (2707) who have the best result among Georgians (4.0 points) are in the 60th and 95th places.
Davit Lobjanidze (2489, 104th), Lela Javakhishvili (2437, 112th) and Tornike Sanikidze (2542, 116th) have 3.5 points. Luka Paichadze (2487) is in the 199th place with 3.0 points. Salome Melia (2462) is in the 226th place. Davit Zarkua (2397) is in the 264th place with 25 points.
Javakhishvili competed without a loss till the 6th round. Yesterday, she lost against Dutch Erwin L’ami (2623) with white pieces.
In the 7th round, we distinguish two games of Georgians – Jobava will play against Dutch Reinderman (2601) with black pieces. Pantsulaia will play against Hungarian Judit Polgár (2686).
Russian Vladimir Potkin (2653) is in the 1st place with 5.5 points. 11 rounds will be held at European Championship and it will end up on April 2. Champion of the tournament will win 20 000 EUR. 25 chess players will be rewarded with cash prizes.
