Temur Ketsbaia a head of Georgian National Team stated the following statement at the press-conference which was held in “Bomond Garden” hotel: “Malta won over Georgia 2:0 last year, that’s why we should play seriously against them. Right now we are concentrated only about this match. I have watched video of the match between Malta and Israel and will watch it again with players. Motivation is big, it is a long time since national team has not won in the qualifying match”.
There are very important matches ahead: On October 8 Georgian National Team hosts Malta in the capital of Georgia, Tbilisi. On October 12 leaves for Latvia. Most of the players are at “Bomond Garden” hotel. There was asked a lot of questions and Ketsbaia answered exhaustively. There was talk about bad lawn of stadium, which was rebuked by him after the match with Israel on September 7.
- You are supposed to see lawn of “National” stadium, what can you say about its current condition?
- Are you waiting for me? You are so interested in it and see it yourselves. The field was like to be carried by me. My goal is to prepare team for the matches and I am responsible with the result. What I said after Israel match was written in another way, as if I blame stadium our drawing. I did not mean it.
- Was not there such bad stadium when you were a football player?
- No, it was not. The pitch was in a terrible condition in a match against Israel. Maybe such conditions are suitable for Georgian National Team when it is playing for example against Croatia and Greece but against Latvia, Israel and Malta it is bad. Team which plays defensive football is suitable such field, but we should have one normal stadium in Georgia. It will be good for everyone… I do not know what kind pitch will be on October 8, hope much better because there was rainy weather.
- You have already created the main staff of the National Team.
- We are not going to change staff continually. It is not common 20 players to leave team and 20 ones to come. There is talk we I do not call up some players, we have 15-man main squad and if there will be newcomers, they also will b given chance of playing in the National Team. There is written critics about players who serve our team for years, when they are called up they are ready to arrive here. These guys do their best and instead of appraisal we criticize them continually.
- You have called 18-year-old Nika Kvekveskiri up. What can you say about it?
- We do not want not to appraise good playing. We do not pay attention to the age very much. I have already mentioned that there are a lot of players oversees and level of Georgian championship and foreign ones are very different, but if there is player in Georgia who satisfies all demands we should not refuse him.
- Who is distinguished in Malta National Team?
- They do not have any distinguished player, but Malta won over Georgian team 2:0 last year. We should have serious attitude towards them. To my mind, this match will be one of the decisive matches.
- Malta is not Greece or Israel. Will you choose attack tactic for October 8?
- If I say that will use 5 forwards because we are playing against Malta it will be false. We should play for winning in any case. Match will dictate tactic.
- Jano Ananidze was not active in the last minutes against Israel. Is he ready for full time playing? Meanwhile he does not have playing practice in “Spartak” for the latest time.
- I think it is good that he does not have playing practice in “Spartak” now, he will come restful here.. but head of “Spartak” has his own opinion and I have mine. Ananidze is one of the prospective players not only in Georgia, in Russian Premier League as well.
- We have mentioned many times that everything is ok in defensive line, but attack is weak point for Georgian team. It was shown during the matches as well.
- We know what our possibilities are and how we should play. I also want to have as attacking style as “Barcelona” has, but we should take reality under our consideration. The main is that team knows what to do in the stadium.
