Tatishvili Is One Victory away from the Main Draw

Georgian tennis player Anna Tatishvili is approaching the main draw of the Australian Open. Georgian top seed celebrated the second victory on the Melbourne courts.

In the first round No.12 seed Tatishvili beat Aleksandra Wozniak of Canada 3:6, 6:2, 6:4.

In the second round the Georgian defeated Ekaterina Bychkova of Russia 6:4, 6:7 (5:7), 6:4 in two hours and 50 minutes. In the previous match Anna had 67% (73 from 109) on the first serve. She used only 63% (46 from 73). On the second serve Anna won 44% (16 from 36).

The Georgian tennis player served 2 aces and had 12 double faults. Tatishvili used 6 from 9 break-points (her opponent used 4 from 10), had 2 winners and 12 unforced errors. Overall, Tatishvili won 7 points more than Bychkova (111:104).

Anna needs one more victory for going through to the main draw. Risa Ozaki of Japan is her next opponent. Ozaki is in the 184th place in WTA ranking.

At the Australian Open Ozaki also held two matches. She won over Aliaksandra Sasnovich of Belarus 6:1, 6:4 and An-Sophie Mestach of Belgium 6:2, 3:6, 6:4.

Tatishvili earned 30 ranking points. If she qualifiers, she will gain 40 points. Anna will earn another 10 points by making through to the main draw.
