Georgian tennis player Anna Tatishvili won the second match at Dothan tournament (Alabama, 50 000 USD).
In the first match, 21-year-old Tatishvili beat Canadian Sharon Fichman 6:1, 6:1. In the second match, Anna won over 32-year-old American Julie Ditty 7:5, 4:6, 6:4.
In 2008, Ditty was in the 89th place in ranking.
In the middle of the second set, Anna was winning 4:1 and 40:15 but then she lost 7 games in a row.
Fortunately, Georgian tennis player won the third set.
And one interesting detail. Tatishvili was nervous during the whole match. Referee punished Anna 3 times and almost declared her as a loser.
Thanks to this victory, Tatishvili is in ¼ final of Dothan tournament and earned 18 rating points. Georgian tennis player is in the 109th place in ranking and has 634 points. She is 27 points behind Croatian Mirjana Lucic and Czech Sandra Zahlavova.
Brazilian Roxanne Vaisemberg will be opponent of Tatishvili in ¼ final. She is in the 317th place in ranking. So, Tatishvili has a good chance to advance.
32 points are for going through semifinal of Dothan tournament. Finalist will gain 50 points and winner – 70. There is a chance that we might see Tatishvili in top 100 after Alabama tournament.
