Georgian top seed Anna Tatishvili who is in the 134th place in Women's Tennis Association successfully held two rounds of Phoenix tournament (75 000 USD).
In the first round a 20-year-old Tatishvili beat a 15-year-old American Madison Keys (6:4, 6:2) who was invited with "Wild Card". It was not a surprise but beating Canadian Rebecca Marino in the 1/8 final was unexpected for everyone.
Marino was No.6 seed player at Arizona tournament. She was in the 101st place in World ranking but she could do nothing against Georgian tennis player and lost 2:6, 4:6.
Tatishvili earned 30 rating points after going through the 1/4 final. But it is not enough for advancing in ranking. Last year Anna played in the semifinal of Phoenix tournament and earned 50 points. Georgian girl must repeat at least last result if she does not want to regress in ranking.
The next opponent of Anna will be found out between Ukrainian Tetiana Luzhanska and Canadian Heidi El Tabakh. Finalist of Phoenix tournament will gain 78 points and champion will gain 110 points.
Unlike Anna, Oksana Kalashnikova is not participating successfully in the tournament (25 000 USD) which is held in the capital of Belarus, Minsk. No.5 seed a 20-year-old Georgian tennis player lost against Slovakian Kristina Kucova 7:6 (7:1), 2:6, 3:6 in the 1/4 final.
