Tatishvili Faces Martic and Tries to Defend 100 Points

In the first round of Wimbledon Anna Tatishvili of Georgia will face Petra Martic of Croatia. The 23-year-old Tatishvili has 834 points and is in the 79th place on WTA ranking. One year junior Martic is in the 143rd place with 457 points.

Last year Martic was in the 42nd place but has regress since then. Tatishvili played Martic only once. Last September Anna defeated Petra 6:2, 6:3 at the Quebec tournament (220 000 USD).

In case of victory, Anna will face either Nadia Petrova of Russia or Karolina Pliskova of Czech Republic. 100 ranking points are going through to the second round. If Tatishvili wins in the second round, she will earn 160 points.

Last year Tatishvili beat Tamarine Tanasugarn of Thailand 6:4, 6:2. Then, she lost to Camila Giorgi of Italy 3:6, 1:6. So, Anna has to defend 100 ranking points.

Georgia has two representatives in doubles draw. Besides Tatishvili, Oksana Kalashnikova will compete in doubles.

Anna and Simona Halep of Romania will play Foretz Gacon of France and Eva Hrdinova of Czech Republic.

Jana Cepelova of Slovakia will play with Kalashnikova. The Georgian-Slovak duet will face the American-German pair.

The main draw of Wimbledon starts on June 24.
