In Istanbul, in the first round of the 40th round chess Olympics Georgian basketball men and women’s team won with absolute result (4-0). Our guys beat Yemen team: Mchedlishvili (ranking- 2659) beat Al Zendan (2363), Gagunashvili (2578)- beat Faragi (2243), Sanikidze (2585)- Al Hadran (2263) and Pantsulaia (2575)- Abdula (2019). As for Georgian national women’s team, they easily beat team from Guatemala:
Relatively Bela Khotenashvili (2509) beat Masariegos (2062), Lela Javakhishvili (2458)- Sotomayor (1885), Nino Khurtsidze (2444)- K.Menkos (2035) and Nino Batsiashvili (2432)- M. Menkos (1877).
In the second round Georgian national men chess team plays against German strongest team. As for women, they play against Belgium and they are expected to gain absolute victory.
