The member of Toronto “Raptors” and Spanish national basketball team Jose Calderon will miss the upcoming FIBA World Cup which is scheduled to start on August 28th. According to Spanish newspaper Marca Calderon will unable to help his team due to the knee injury which he got during the international friendly match against the team USA.
Spaniard felt pain several minutes before the final buzzer. Doctors have concluded that Jose will not be fit until the world cup. It is already known that Jose Calderon will be replaced by Raul Lopez who is playing in Russian basketball club “Khimki”.
Note that team USA has won the friendly encounter with Spain on the last seconds with a score of 86:85 in Madrid. Americans were leading by 12 points before the break however in the second half Spanish side managed to reduce the deficit. Derek Rose’s precise shot just 17 seconds before the buzzer helped United States to celebrate a tough victory over the home side. Spain had enough time to make a final shot however US defense was very well organized and did not let that happen.
Kevin Durant made the most buckets among the Americans with 25 points and 10 rebounds to grab a double-double, while Juan Carlos Navarro was on top of the Spanish score list with 20 points.
