If nothing changes, on the last day of transfers in Europe, Georgian center Giorgi Shermadini will leave “Zaragoza” of Spain and will transfer to “Olympiacos” of Greece where he has played before.
The Aragons and whole Spanish ACB League is losing one of the best basketball players. In “Zaragoza” Giorgi averagely earned 12.9 points and 5.9 rebounds. His coefficient was 15.8 points.
With the help of Shermadini the Aragon club played in semifinal of Spanish Cup and was close to making through to 1/8 final of Eurocup. In 16 games of Eurocup the Georgian averagely gained 9.8 points, 5.6 rebounds and 1.1 assists.
According to Eurohoops.net, the Piraeus club will pay 100 000 EUR in the Georgian basketball player. Shermadini will receive 55 000 EUR each month. Giorgi is to arrive in Greece in the next few hours and will play in “Olympiacos” till the end of the season.
On February 28 Shermadini will play “Fenerbahce” in the second group stage of Euroleague.
The Georgian center (2.16 cm) signed the first contract with “Olympiacos” in December 2012 and won Euroleague with the club.
Shermadini did not have much playing time in “Olympiacos” and the club decided to replace him by Mirza Begic of Slovenia. When Giorgi started playing perfectly in “Zaragoza”, the Greek club realized its mistake.
“Olympiacos” is playing at Euroleague in the current season and has a good chance to make through to ¼ final. The Greek club has 4 wins and 3 losses in Group E and is sharing the second-fourth places with “Milan” of Italy and “Panathinaikos” Athens. The best four clubs of Groups E and F will go through ¼ final.
At the Greek Championship “Olympiacos” has 17 wins in 19 rounds and is 1 win away from “Panathinaikos”. On March 1 “Olympiacos” will visit “Apollon” in Patras.

Now the position of the Georgian basketball player is the main problem. Giorgi wants to sign contract with “Olympiacos” for 2014-15 seasons. “Olympiacos” wants contract till the end of the season. the sides have several hours to reach agreement.
