Shapatava Plays against Russian Favorite in Semifinal

Sopo Shapatava, Georgian tennis player, achieved guarantee of going through the semifinal in the international tournament (25 000 USD), which was under way in Batumi.

#6 seed Shapatava won the 3rd match also without losing a set, this time Sopo faced Russian Irina Khromacheva and won over her 6:4, 6:3.

In the semifinal, another Russian Aleksandra Panova (#1 seed) will face Sopo Shapatava.

Shapatava still have to held doubles tournament, where she plays with her compatriot Ekaterine Gorgodze. They will compete against #2 seeded Russian duet (Ivakhnenko – Kozlova) in semifinal.

Nikoloz Basilashvili, Georgian first seed among men, played unsuccessfully in 64 thousand Challenger, which was under way in Izmir Turkey. He defeated with Mirza Bashich of Bosnia and Herzegovina 4:6, 6:7 (7:9) in starting round of single’s competition. In doubles competition, Basilashvili and Mohamed Safvat of Egypt lost to the same Bashich and Woo of China 1:6, 1:6.
