The Georgian water polo team started the third qualifying round of European Championship 2014 with victory. Yesterday the team of Serb specialist Jovan Popovic beat Switzerland – 24:7.

Portugal hosts the third round and the Georgian team will have five opponents. Today the Georgians will hold two matches: against Malta at 15:00 Tbilisi time and against Belarus at 22:30 Tbilisi time. Tomorrow they will face Slovakia and the day after tomorrow – Portugal.

The Georgian water polo players played perfectly in the first and second qualifying rounds. They took the first place twice and are sharing the first-third places with France and Russia. 6 teams will go through play-off. Georgia has almost guaranteed getting in Top 6.

The fourth-sixth placed teams will fight for European Championship with Spain, Romania and Olympic champion Croatia. Top 3 teams will play with Holland, Turkey and Macedonia.

Hungary, Serbia, Italy, Montenegro, Greece and Germany will also play at the final stage of European Championship.
