The first stage of World Volleyball Championship 2011 is underway in the capital of Brazil, Brazilia. Traditionally, Georgian duets Saka-Rtvelo and Geor-Gia are competing in it.
Saka-Rtvelo which is No.15 seed at women’s tournament lost against No.18 seed German duet (Holtvik-Semmler) 1:2 (21:13, 19:21, 12:15) and then beat Australians (No.13 seed, Cook-West) 2:1 (21:19, 13:21, 16:14).
Georgian duet which consists of Brazilian girls went through the next round where they will play against No.16 seed Italian duet (Cicolari-Menegatti). Saka-Rtvelo has 120 rating points and in case of winning Brazilian stage they will gain 600 points.
Today, Georgian men duet Geor-Gia will start competition from the main draw.
