Georgian U-16 basketball team won two games at the tournament of European Championship Division B.
Georgian team (Gia Kazanjyan is their coach) beat Romanians 83:61 in the first match of the tournament which takes place in the capital of Estonia, Tallinn. Yesterday they had match with Belgians and defeated them (unlike the national team) 65:64 in overtime.
It is worth mentioning, that Georgian basketball players had a 10-point difference with competitor. But they managed to overtake the competitor in last 10 minutes and scored 2 points 10 seconds before the end of overtime.
Georgian U-16 basketball players did not have the same rebounds as the competitor 36:47. But they used 8 3-pointer from 23 and took important points from Belgians (one 3-pointer from 18).
Beka Burjanadze was the best in both two games. He scored 16 points and 14 rebounds in the games with Romania, 13 points and 12 rebounds - with Belgium.
Thanks to two victories, Georgian basketball players are leaders of Group C. They will hold matches with Slovenia on August 7 and with Luxembourg on August 9.
According to the rules of the tournament, two leader teams will go through the second qualifying stage. Georgian team has to win one from two games to reach the goal.
Best 8 teams will play in two groups. Leader teams will play in semifinals and finalists will have a right to play in Division A next year.
