In Germany Georgian Greco-Roman Style Wrestling Team succeeded after unpleasant 4-year pause. Since 2007 Georgian classic wrestlers have not won any gold medal at European or at World Championship. On April 3 was played Georgian anthem for celebrating Revaz Lashkhi’s (60 kg) victory in Germany. It was career peak of 23-year-old Georgian wrestler.
Revaz Laskhi started training at the age of 7 in Borjomi. His first trainer was Giorgi Razmadze. In 2003 he continued training with Otar Tatishvili in Tbilisi and last year Chacua was training him. He was distinguished in age national team also, but did not become champion. In 2004 he lost final match of Youth European Championship and in 2005won bronze medal at Youth World Championship.
Revaz Laskhi::I used to train much before but I have never been such mobilized as I was at this tournament. This determination brought such result.
- Were you as ready as before you used to be?
- No I was not. I improved style of wrestling with help of my coaches. As a result I was well prepared for this championship. I have self-confidence and determination as a result of good preparation too.
- You were lucky in ballot. When did you see your wrap?
- Several minutes earlier before starting wrestling I saw it. I could see it previous day of the match but I never do it, because than whole night you have to think about it against your wish.
- You won 4 matches from 5, without losing even one round. To my mind the most difficult fight was against Azerbaijani Hasan Aliev, European and World Champion…
- I had to win this fight in two rounds but referees were unfair and due to it I continued the match. In spite of this unpleasant moment I managed to beat Alive, whom I had never wrestled before.
- When did you get sure that you were champion?
- After winning over Aliev I was sure that would not lose final match. I went through such difficult wrap that I was sure that would not loose with Serafimu Angelov in final match.
- What was your goal before leaving for championship?
- As usual of course my goal was becoming champion.
- World Championship- the most important tournament of the year is ahead, there you will be able to win license for Olympic Games..
- There is much time before world championship. I have to do my best and have to prepare well during this period.
