Georgian chess players who were competing at Dubai 15th international chess tournament lost. In the fourth round Levan Pantsulaia (2556) played draw with Romanian Eduard (2670), as for Mikheil Mchedlishvili (2640), he lost with Russian Sergey Volkov (2593) with white figures.
As a result, Pantsulaia has 3.5 points and according to the additional points it is in the 8th round, as for Mchedlishvili, he is in the 18th place with 3.0 points. Bela Khotenashvili (2492) is in the 17th place, she played draw with Egyptian Basem Amin (2641) with white pieces.
Sophiko Khukhashvili (2386) is in the 42th place with 3.0 points, Konstantine Shanava (2578) is in the 74th place with 2.5 points and Maka Purtseladze (2347) has the worst condition in comparison with other Georgians. Due to unknown reasons, it was announced that Maka lost with Czech rival in the last round, as a result she is in the 108th place with 2.0 points.
In the 5th round, Pantsulaia has the most difficult fight in comparison with other compatriots, he plays against ranking-favorite Vladimer Akopyan (2704) with black pieces. It also must be mentioned that there are four leaders at the tournament, which is underway in the UAE: Gabriel Sargsyan (Armenia, 2666), Sergey Volkov (Russia, 2593), Alexandr Rakhmanov (Russia, 2591), Yan Elvest (US, 2611).
Prize money of the Dubai tournament is 50 000 USD. Champion will win 10 000 USD. The money will be distributed this way: II place – 7 000; III place – 4 000; IV – 3 500; V – 2 500;...
