Georgians Benefited by the Tbilisi Tournament

The International Judo Federation has published a new world ranking, which takes into account the results of the Tbilisi Grand Prix.

Avtandil Chrikishvili has the highest rating in the team of Irakli Uznadze. The current champion of Europe, who is leading 81kg weight category for several months, strengthened his leadership by winning Tbilisi Grand Prix and is 636 points ahead of the nearest pursuer, French Louis Pietri.

In 90kg weight Varlam Liparteliani is still in the 2nd place. He had a brilliant chance of surpassing Cuban Ashley Gonzales, but due to injury was unable to continue participation.

Bantamweight Amiran Papinashvili also retains the second place, who was No.1 seeded at the Tbilisi Grand Prix and gained 60 points and took the 5th place. Heavyweight Adam Okruashvili moved to the second place from the 3rd, but he divides the new position with French Teddy Rinner – both judokas have 1900 points.

Besides the athletes above, Zviad Gogochuri, champion of Tbilisi Grand Prix, is also in top 10, who rose from the 14th to 7th position.

Another winner of the Georgian Grand Prix Nugzar Tatalashvili (73kg), who was in the 26th place before, now is in the 15th position. Bronze medalist Zebeda Rekhviashvili (73kg) improved his position only with one step. Lukhum Chkhvimiani (60kg), Ushangi Margiani (81kg), Davit Loriashvili, Guram Tushishvili (both 100kg) and Levan Matiashvili (+100kg) significantly moved ahead.

The rating changes were also in women’s team. The best situation is in +78 kg, where Irine Leonidze is in the 44th place with 164 points. Elene Kebadze is in the 72th place with 60 points and Shorena Sharadze (63kg) is also included in the top hundred – she is in the 97th position.

Below you will find out the first five of all weight categories and personal ratings of all Georgian judokas.

P.S. In the updated rating, the points earned by Lasha Shavdatuashvili and Rostom Khakhaleishvili is not taken into account. Probably, these data will be corrected next week.
