In the ninth round of European Individual chess championship, ongoing in Poland, Georgian chess players regressed their positions. Baadur Jobava played draw with Vlastimil Babula, as for Merab Gagunashvili he gained a half point with Mathias Bluebaum, Tornike Sanikidze lost with Vladimer Potkin, as for Davit Lomsadze, he lost with Elena Cherednichenko. Davit Shengelia the representative of Austria also lost with Russian Yan Nepomniashchin.
After 8 rounds Ukrainian Moiseenko is leader with 7 points, Konstantin Luplesku of Romania is half point behind him. Davit Shengelia and Baadur Jobava have 5-5 points and they are still beyond the top 40. Merab Gagunashvili has 4.5 points, Sanikidze-4, Lomsadze-2.
In the ninth round Jobava plays against Finn Tom Nibek, Gagunashvili- Russian Mikhail Antipov, Sanikidze against Azerbaijani Bahruz Rzaev, Lomsadze- German Borger Venze.
The prize fund of the tournament is 100 thousand EUR, where the winner will get 14 k. 23 the best chess player of the Championship will qualify for the World Cup.
