Georgians Do Well in Antalya

In 1/8 final of the Antalya tournament (10 000 USD) Nikoloz Basilashvili defeated Andrei Plotniy of Russia 6:3, 7:6 (7:3) and made through to ¼ final where he will play Lukas Mugevicius of Lithuania.

In doubles draw Basilashvili and Adam El Mihdawy of America beat Mugevicius and Yuriy Kryvoy of Ukraine 6:2, 5:7, 11:9. However, in ¼ final they lost to German duet 4:6, 1:6.

Ekaterine Gorgodze made through to ¼ final of the Antalya women’s tournament (10 000 USD). No.4 seed Georgian tennis player won over Rita Atik of Morocco 6:0, 6:4 and will play No.7 seed Diana Buzean of Romania.

In 1/8 final No.8 seed Sofia Kvatsabaia was beating Kimberley Zimmermann of Belgium 7:6 (8:6) when the match stopped. The Georgian girl is close to victory and if she plays in ¼ final, she will face No.1 seed Ana Bogdan of Romania.

None of the Georgian tennis players are left in doubles draw. In ¼ final Kvatsabaia and Esen Kokce of Turkey lost to the Belgians 3:6, 0:6. Gorgodze and Zakarlyuk of Ukraine lost to the Japanese duet 1:6, 3:6.
