The first day of European Open turned out unsuccessful for the Georgian judokas. Today champions and prize winners were found out in men’s three categories and women’s four categories. Kakha Tsagareli, Giorgi Gugulashvili (both 66 kg) and Shorena Sharadze (63 kg) wrestled in the name of Georgia but all of them lost.
Kakha Tsagareli beat Felician Ori of Hungary by yuko. But in 1/8 final he lost to Andraz Jereb of Slovenia.
Shorena Sharadze defeated Akerke Myrzabek of Kazakhstan but lost to Edwige Gwend of Italy.
Giorgi Gugulashvili was wrestling against Akil Gjakova of Kosovo when he violated the rules and the referee sent him off.
Sofia Open will end up tomorrow. Archil Gogolashvili (90 kg), Mikheil Narimanidze (100 kg) and Irine Leonidze (+78 kg) will wrestle in the name of Georgia. Gogolashvili will face Batuhan Efemgil of Turkey, Narimanidze – Daniel Dichev of Bulgaria and Leonidze – either Sebile Akbulut of Turkey or Galina Tarasova of Ukraine.
