The third day of European Junior Championship turned out successful for the Georgian team. The team of Gia Gugava won two gold and one silver-bronze medal.
Today champions and prize winners were found out in three weight categories. Two Georgian judokas won gold medals. Beka Gviniashvili (90 kg) and Guram Tushishvili (100 kg) became European champions. Levan Matiashvili won silver medal.
Beka Gviniashvili arrived in Sarajevo as a silver medal winner of European Championship.
Gviniashvili defeated Patryk Ciechomski of Poland by two waza-aris, Max de Vreeze of Holland two waza-aris and Laurin Boehler of Austria. In semifinal the Georgian won over Celio Dias of Portugal by two waza-aris. In final Beka beat Michael Korrel of Holland.
Guram Tushishvili defeated Maximilian Hageneder of Austria and Mikita Zholudzeu of Belarus. In semifinal the Georgian beat Leon Strueber of Germany by two waza-aris. In final Guram won over Nabil Machtrou of France.
Levan Matiashvili had a chance to listen to the Georgian anthem for the third time in Sarajevo. But he lost to Anton Krivobokov of Russia by yuko.
Before the final, Matiashvili won three fights. He defeated Bendeguz Demeter of Hungary and Hennrich Sildveer of Estonia. In semifinal Matiashvili won over Anton Rudnyk of Ukraine.
Anton Krivobokov of Russia also defeated Giorgi Zakariadze of Georgia.
Before the semifinal Giorgi Zakariadze held three fights. He beat Zarko Culum of Serbia, Vito Dragic of Slovenia and Yakiv Khammo of Ukraine. In repechage final Zakariadze defeated Nabil Zalagh of France.
Tornike Otinashvili also wrestled in 100 kg. He beat Rokas Simonis of Lithuania and Sjoerd Mierlo of Holland but then lost to Viktar Larchanka of Belarus. In repechage semifinal the Georgian defeated Marius Piepke of Germany but lost to Leon Strueber of Germany.
Today Lasha Taveluri (90 kg) also wrestled on the Sarajevo tatami. He won over Tadej Mulec of Slovenia but in semifinal he lost to Gergo Fogasy of Hungary.
The Georgian junior team finished European Championship with 2 gold, 2 silver and 1 bronze medal. The Georgian team took the first place among 41 countries.
