Georgian judo team, finished the first day of Warsaw European Open Tournament with Gold-Silver. The final of 73 kg weight category was Georgian, Nugzar Tatalashvili and Zebeda Rekhviashvili wrestled against each other and guaranteed the first and second places.
Before final match Tatalashvili beat four rivals. He beat Irish Loid Mening in one minute, defeat Russian Denis Yarchev with a yellow card, and as for other opponents, he beat Pole Damian Zvarnovietsk and German Soshin Katsum with ippons. Rekhviashvili went through the four stages, but in comparison with the compatriot he went through the final very carefully. He beat German Stefan Friddikh with wazari, Spanish Kios Uematsu with yoko, and Ukrainian Sergey Drebot and British Jan Gosiewski with shido. The referee gave three penalties to Rekhviashvili, as for Tatalashvili, he received fewer shidos and guaranteed gold medal.
Today, prize winners and champions were found out in 60 and 66 kg categories. In the lightest weight category Vazha Margvelashvili and Paata Merebashvili started to compete and stayed beyond the tournament in 1/16 final.
In 66 kg weight category Georgia has the only representative. Shalva Kardava beat Austrian Alexandr Weishibger, Dutch Jasper de Yong. As for the main draw, he stayed beyond the tournament with the failure with French kilian Le Bluch. He could not manage to do well in repechage final too and finally took the seventh place.
Tomorrow, champions and prize winners will be found out in four weight categories: 81, 90, 100 and +100 kg.
In 81kg weight category, in the first round only two will wrestle from Georgian three sportsmen. Khvicha Khutsishvili wrestles against Milan Koler of Hungary. The winner will wrestle against Brazilian Mauro Moura.
Paata Ghviniashvili opens Warsaw tournament with the fight against Serbian Miroliub Ivezich and in case of victory, he wrestles against host Jacob Kobenets.
Levan Tsiklauri starts competing from the second circle. The finalist of Dusseldorf Grand Prix wrestles against Mongolian Altanbagana Gantulga and Serbian Alexey Nefedov.
Lasha Tavaleuri (90 kg) rests in the first circle and supposedly wrestles against these sportsmen: Lithuanian Zilvinas Lekavichus and Mongolian Tsogtgerel Khutag. In this weight category, Beka Ghviniashvili starts the competition at the beginning, he wrestles against Ukrainian Andrey Spiridonov. The winner plays against Hungarian Christian Toti in the second circle.
After a long pause, Levan Zhorzholiani (100 kg) is seeded as No.1 at Pole tournament. He starts competition from the second circle, against Lithuanian Carlos Bauza. Davit Loriashvili also starts the tournament with the same stage. His opponent is Dmitro Berezhny.
