Progress in Doubles, Regress in Singles

 

Recent unsuccessful competition of Georgian No.1 tennis player Anna Tatishvili worsened her situation in WTA ranking. If she cannot manage to improve the situation, soon she will say goodbye to top 100. Last week, Anna lost in the first round of the Quebec tournament (220 000 USD). Anna is in the 96th place with 730 points in a renewed ranking.

Maka Chakhnashvili has successful period. She is in the 175th place with 351 points. Maka is 55 places ahead of Oksana Kalashnikova who was considered as Georgian No.2 tennis player. Seven Georgian girls are in the ranking:

96 (91). Anna Tatishvili– 730 points; 175 (176). Maka Chakhnashvili– 351; 230 (217). Oksana Kalashnikova– 251; 255 (260). Sopo Shapatava– 220; 432 (435). Ekaterine Gorgodze– 90; 468 (462). Sofia Kvatsabaia– 78; 486 (474). Tatia Mikadze– 74;
Tatishvili and American Jamie Hampton went through the final in Quebec but in spite of loss, they earned 200 rating points. As a result of it, Anna is in the 84th place with 1027 points in doubles ranking.

This week, Anna will play at the Albuquerque tournament (75 000 USD) in USA. Georgian tennis player is No.1 seed at this tournament. Last year, Anna lost to Lindsay Lee-Waters 0:6, 3:6 in semifinal. So, she will have to keep points.

Maka Chakhnashvili is in France and will play against hostess Severine Beltrame in the first round of the Saint Malo tournament (100 000 USD). In doubles, Maka and Spanish Cabeza-Candela will play against Columbians – Castano and Duque-Marino.
