Georgian rugby sevens tam will not be able to play at world series 2013/14. In the capital of England, London in the 1/4 final of qualifying round, as it was expected, Geogian team lost with Portugal 5:17 and stayed beyond the tournament.

After losing all the three matches (with Scotland0:29, Honkong 12:17, Zimbabwe 14:19),"The Lelos" showed the worst result among the eight teams and in the 1/4 final met against Portugal which has the best result, which is many times European champion in 7s Cup and regularly compete in World series too.

Kakha Alania the head coach of the team started the match against Portugal with the following staff: Kobakhidze, Dzneladze, Gegenava, Khmaladze, Makharashvili, Jimsheladze, Sharikadze. Pruiddze, Tsertsvadze and Gogolashvili were in substitutions.

Georgian team started the match in a confused way and made many mistakes. Finally, Pedro Leal scored try. At the 4th minute they sccored the second try. The time ended 0:10.

Georgians were massed up in the second half too.The rivals scored the thid try very soon.

2,5 minutes before the end of the match, one of the Portuguese was sinbinned, Geogians used it and Tornike Tsertsvadze scoreda a try. Shavleg Makharashvili could not manage to score conversion kick, but if h managed it would not change anything, because the time was up.

So, Geogian national 7s team held 4 matches in London and lost all of them. Now on June 8-9 national team competes at Europe Grand Prix, Lyon stage, World Cup which is held in the capital of Russia, Moscow.

As for London 7s, the loosers in 1/4 final will stay beyond the tournament, winners in semi-final will compete at World Series and the final will not be held. Loosers in the semi-final will fight for the third place.
