Last weekend, Paris hosted Wrestling “Golden Grand Prix” along with Judo Grand Slam and Georgian freestyle and Greco-Roman teams participated better than the judo team.
The Greco-Roman wrestling team showed the most impressive results. The team of Begi Darchia won 4 gold and 3 bronze medals. Revaz Lashkhi (66kg), Zurab Datunashvili (75kg), Giorgi Tsirekidze (80kg) and Iakob Kajaia (130kg) became the champions. Lasha Gogitadze (59kg), Manuchar Tskhadaia (75kg) and Vasil Imerlishvili (98kg) occupied the 3rd places. Only Goderdzi Davitadze (59kg), Robert Kobliashvili (85kg) and Vladimer Gegeshidze (98kg) stayed beyond the top three.
Freestyle wrestling team, coached by Revaz Mindorashvili, arrived in France with 6 athletes. Zviad Metreveli (97kg) and Giorgi Meshvildishvili (125kg) ended the “Golden Grand Prix” without defeat. Ioseb Khutsishvili (74kg) won the bronze medal. Akaki Motsonelidze (61kg) missed one victory to reach the pedestal and took the 5th place. Aleksandre Jachvadze (74kg) and Gocha Lomtatidze (86kg) lost in the initial stage.
