Only Heavy-weights Do Well

 

Onise Bugadze, heavyweight of Georgian judo team, won two fights at “Grand Prix” in Samsun. He is in ¼ final. Irine Leonidze, heavyweight of women’s team, made through to semifinal.

Bugadze beat Elyor Masharipov of Uzbekistan. In 1/8 final the Georgian defeated Ihar Makarau of Belarus. In ¼ final Onise will wrestle against Matjaz Ceraj of Slovenia.

Leonide started participation from ¼ final. She won over Anaid Mkhitaryan of Russia by yuko. In semifinal the Georgian will wrestle against Carolin Weiss of Germany.

Today other 5 Georgian judokas wrestled on Turkish tatami. All of them lost in the first round.

Ioseb Chilindrishvili and Lasha Zurabiani (both 81kg) wrestled only once on the Turkish tatami. Chilindrishvili lost to Massimiliano Carollo of Italy by ippon. Zurabiani lost to Ahmet Sari of Turkey by ippon.

Zviad Gogochuri (90kg) started participation from 1/8 final. He lost to Guillaume Elmont of Holland.

Levan Zhorzholiani (100kg) wrestled in 1/8 final and lost to Dmytro Luchyn of Ukraine. In this weight class Davit Loriashvili beat Artem Bloshenko of Ukraine by ippon in 1/16 final. Then, the Georgian lost to Lukas Krpalek of Czech Republic by ippon.
