Team USA has celebrated its sixth victory on the 2010 FIBA World Cup in Turkey. This win gave the US team opportunity to play against team Russia in the quarter finals.
Mike Krzyzewski’s team has demoralized every team, on its path. The only team that more or less opposed Americans was Brazil which lost only by 2 points – 68:70.
The game against Angola was not an exception since USA destroyed the opposite side with a score of 121:66. Americans recorded a solid, 20-point margin, already in the first quarter. There is no doubt that Americans did not play with their full strength, otherwise there is no doubt that they would win by a bigger margin. Finally, United States scored 121 points which automatically became that best result of the tournament so far. Note, that 100 point limit was over scored by only US, Spain, Serbia, and New Zealand in this tournament.
Derek Rose and Gordon played the most, 21 minutes of the game, while Grainger and Chandler “worked out” the least, 8 minutes a piece on the parquet. Chauncey Billups picked up 19 points in 19 minutes, Gordon, Durant, and Gay added 17 points each.
In the quarter final USA will face Russian Federation which beat New Zealand 78:56. This game will be played on September 9th.
