International Judo Federation defined the format of the next World Team Championship. After the end of World Individual Championship, the championship will be held on August 28 in Paris and 4-4 men's and women's teams will participate in it. European Team Championship 2011 will be qualifying stage of World Championship. European Championship will be held in Istanbul. 3 men's and 2 women's teams will participate in this championship. Dutch women's team as current world champion and both host teams will be added to them automatically.
This year, Antalya, the city of Turkey, hosted World Team Championship and Japanese men's team won it. Before that Georgian team was champion but the team of Soso Liparteliani lost a chance to keep the title in the 1/4 final. International Judo Federation put Georgian judokas in Antalya list at the last moment.
Official website of International Judo Federation announced host city of World Team Championship 2012 - it is the city of Brazil, Salvador.
