Yesterday, in the evening Georgian National Team returned from Bulgaria, where they participated in European Youth Championship. Georgian sportsmen won 2 golden and 1 silver medals and team won the 2nd place, which is quite big achievement for Georgian Judo National Team.
Fans, Friends, family members, reps of Judo Federation and Ministry of Sport met young sportsmen in Tbilisi International Airport.
Soso Liparteliani head coach of National Youth Team after resignation of Amiran Totikashvili was represented as a head coach candidate of Georgian National Judo Team. In facet his candidate is without alternative.
As it seems young sportsmen are not get used to journalist, they were very shy and only were showing their medals and cup proudly.
The first comments were made at the airport, because all of them were hurry to the Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs, where Lado Vardzelashvili minister of Sport and Youth Affairs and other official people were waiting sportsmen and coaches. Soso Liparteliani briefly summarized European Championship and did not hide satisfaction with final results:” Our achievements are the result of hard training and work. Boys did their best to win these medals”. As for the main topic, about his appointment in head coach position of National Judo Team Liparteliani also commented very briefly and stated that he heard about it while being in Sophia, did not know details and would give a comment about it after meeting with the minister. We took the promised comment very soon, when Minister Lado Vardzelashvili officially represented Soso Liparteliani as a head coach of Georgian National Judo Team.
Lado Vadzelashvili:” I estimate as the biggest achievement of the final results of Georgian Youth Judo Team in European Championship. We have not had such success for a long time. I want to congratulate and want to say guys that they will be awarded with promised prize-money. We are waiting better result for the next World Championship. I am glad and this generation, who will represent National Team soon, inspires me. AS for the main topic, in which are interested all of you we had negotiations with Judo Federation and decided together that would represent Soso Liparteliani as a head coach candidate of National Team. Executive Committee of Judo Federation will appoint candidate after discussion. Soso is very good and successful coach and his results confirm it. He can play big role in developing Georgian Judo. I want to wish good luck him as well as his team, because there is much work to do”.
Soso Liparteliani:” This is big responsibility for me and I make you sure that I will do my best that Georgian National Judo Team to be respectful and successful team, as it was during the years. I have been training youth team for a year and I will try to continue such success in National Team”.
Executive Committee of Georgian Judo Federation will held meeting on September 22, where Liparteliani will be officially appointed. On this meeting will be decided the date of special meeting where will be discussed election date of Judo Federation President.
