National Championship Returns with Sevens

After a long break, Georgian national rugby championship returns with Sevens Championship 2011.

Like last year, 3 stages will be held at Sevens Championship. First two stages will be qualifying and then 10 best teams will compete in the final stage. “Shevardeni” base will host the first stage on Saturday and Sunday. Group matches will be held on the first day and playoffs and finals – on Sunday. The second qualifying stage will be held in summer. The last stage will be held at the end of the season in November and champion will be found out.

16 Supreme and First League teams were to participate in the first stage but two teams from Tbilisi – “Armazi” and “Jikebi” refused to compete in it and number of participants reduced to 14. In 2010 and 2009, “Kochebi” Tbilisi became winner of Georgian Sevens Championship.
