The anniversary 20th National Championship in men will start soon. Going through the final stage of European Championship by Georgian National Team has reflected on this championship also. Businessmen showed interest in Georgian basketball and it is possible to increase number of competing teams in National Championship till 11.
Now we offer you interview with head coach of “Energy invest” Mikheil Beruashvili, whose team meets 2010-2011 season with impaired staff.
- What changes are in the team?
- Unfortunately, six players left team’s main staff, those are: Zviad Babiashvili, Kote Tugushi, Anatoli Boisa, Mikeil Chitashvili, Giorgi Pirvelashvili and Mikheil Chochua. There is not transfer in our team. From the old staff the following players stayed in the team, those are: Joliver Tujan, Levan Tsekvava, Davit Artsividze, Malkhaz Abaishvili, Akaki Dvalishvili, Levan Khmelidze, Revaz Chachanidze and Zurab Machavariani.
- Has “Energy Invest” reduced financing?
- Financing is the same, what was in the last season.
- Why did players leave “Energy Invest”?
- As it seems other teams have better sponsor than we have.
- Tujan is one of the best among players who compete in National Championship. No doubt that he also had proposals from other teams. How did you manage to keep him in your team?
- Tujan came to me and said: “it is true that I have proposal from other teams, but I got used “Energy Invest” very much and will stay in team”.
- Are you going to strengthen team after first round?
- I cannot say anything about it yet.
- Will not be difficult to keep title with such staff?
- Certainly it will be. But not our program-minimum is to go through the play off.
- What can you say about Georgian National Team competing in European Championship?
- I congratulate to National Team going though the final tournament sincerely.
- A lot of people considers that, National Team could go though the final without adding the teams…
- It is not bad to take the 2nd place in he group of Division A for debutant team.
- Are you satisfied with coach Kokoshov? Some people consider that he was making (when we were playing in Division B) more mistakes than last year..
- I will reserve myself of estimating my colleague.
