Merab Megreladze - An Outstanding Top Scorer has Died

 

Merab Megreladze has passed away… There are football players who leave particular trace and Merab Megreladze was such player – he passed away at the age of 56.

He was to celebrate his birthday on January 26. He would have become 57 years old though… unique forward who scored 104 goals in 140 matches of the national championship. Megreladze ended up career at the age of 44 in “Chkalovets” Novosibirsk. Before that, he made fans of several teams happy. Of course, he often made fans of “Torpedo” Kutaisi happy. In 1989, Merab Megreladze scored 29 goals in First League of USSR. In 1992-1993, he scored 41 goals in “Samgurali” Tskaltubo” - 37-year-old player. He had good result in “Guria” Lanchkhuti too. Then, he transferred to “Torpedo”.

In 1985, Merab Megreladze made hat-trick in the match against “Dynamo” Moscow and “Torpedo” Kutaisi won 3:1.
