Melia Won Silver Medal at European Championship

Salome Melia (2428) won silver medal at European Championship for the first time in Georgian women’s chess history!

European XIV Women’s Chess Championship turned out successful for the Batumi chess player. Salome earned 8 points and shared the second-sixth places with Bela Khotenashvili and other chess players. According to the additional data, Salome won silver medal and will participate in World Championship.

Besides Melia, Meri Arabidze (2320) and Lela Javakhishvili (2465) will compete in World Championship too. They gained 7.5-7.5 points and took the 9th-17th places.

It is worth mentioning that the best result of the Georgian women was bronze medal of Ketevan Arakhamia.

Hoang Trang of Hungary (2467) won the tournament. She earned 9.0 points in 11 rounds.
