Melia Won Bronze Medal

 

Georgian chess player Salome Melia (2454) won bronze medal at European Individual Chess Championship 2014 which ended up in the city of Bulgaria, Plovdiv.

In the last 11th round Melia played draw with Elina Danielian of Armenia (2458). Like Mariya Muzychuk (2521), Melia earned 8.0 points but the Georgian had better additional data.  

Valentina Gunina of Russia (2501) won the tournament with 9.0 points. Her compatriot Tatiana Kosintseva (2476) took the second place with 8.5 points.

Four chess players earned 7.5-7.5 points. Nana Dzagnidze (2541) took the 6th place, Nino Batsiashvili (2417) – the 7th, Lela Javakhishvili (2474) – the 8th and Nino Khurtsidze (2460) – the 12th place.

Other Georgian chess players showed the following results: 18. Meri Arabidze (2406) – 7.0; 19. Sophiko Guramishvili (2402) – 7.0; 25. Sophio Gvetadze (2356) – 6.5; 84. Madona Bokuchava (2027) – 5.0;
