On November 23-24 World Championship in karate was held in Bergamo (Italy) in which participated representatives of different styles and 14 countries. Georgia was represented with 10 athletes. The delegation was led by Merab Turashvili and Levan Rogava. Georgian team gained a deserved victory in the uncompromising fight and if not the mistakes of the judges the result would have been much better, however none of the Georgians returned without medal.

8-9 years – Gelashvili Giorgi, First place +45kg (Irikumi -Go). Third place (Irikumi –Ju)

10-11 years – Lapachishvili Davit – 32kg first place. (Irikumi-Go). Third place Kata.

10-11 years. Janashvili Dani – 42kg third place (Irikumi-Go).

12-13 years – Kimadze Tornike – 45kg first place. Japaridze Aleksandre – 35kg. First place. 12-13 years Janashvili Semi – 75kg second place. (Irikumi-Ju), second place. (Irikumi –Go). 12-13 years – Kvaratskhelia Beka +45kg second place (Irikumi –Go).

16-17 years – Kiknavelidze Nikoloz +75kg second place (Irikumi –Ju).

+18 years – Tsereteli Lado – 84kg second place (Irikumi – Ju). Kukhianidze Beka third place (Irikumi – Go).

In sum four -1, five -2, four -3 places. (Irikumi –Ju: full contact without attacking with hands in the face. Irikumi –Go: attacking with hands in the face is allowed).
