Abhijeet Gupta (2580) of India gathered 7.5 points in 9 rounds and won chess tournament which was underway in Dubai. Mikheil Mchedlishvili (2629) showed the best results among Georgian participants. As a result he was half-point behind Indian Parimarjan Negis (2618) and Hungarian Chaba Balog (2601). Davit Arutionyan (2575) of Georgia gained 6.5 points and took the 16th place, Levan Pantsulaia (2595) took the 19th place with 6.0. points. The results of other Georgian participants are the following: 36. Merab Gagunashvili (2599) – 5.5; 37. Davit Zarkua (2397)– 5.5; 39. Sophiko Khukhashvili – 5.5; it is worth mentioning that Khukhashvili showed the best results among women after Hungarian Veronika Shneider (2247), who took the 12nd place with 6.5 points.
In the 9th round Mchedlishvili playing with white pieces won over Ukrainian Mikheil Simantsev (2556) and gathered 6.5 points.
Gupta was awarded with 8 000 and Mchedlishvili with 2 000 from 45 000 prize money.
Before the last round of this tournament, there was also held blitz round in Dubai. Four Georgian chess players participated in it. Aurtinyan showed the best result among them, he gained 7.0. points in 9 rounds. According to additional data he is behind Armenian Karen Grigoryan (2463) who took the third place. Pantsualia (6.5.) took the 7th, Zarkua (6.0) – the 15th and Mchedlishvili (2629) - the 17th place.
