Mamuka Gorgodze- The First Eastern European Player Who Wins "Oscar"

 

 

Mamuka Gorgodze the leader of Georgian National Rugby Team and French “Montpelier”, received “Oscar” from a daily rugby periodical “Midi Olympics”.

On March 26 more than a thousand reps of gathered in Montpelier for appraising 28-year-old distinguished player, who showed an excellent performance in the most prestigue tournament in Top 14 “Heineken Cup”. Among the guests were reps from press, sponsors of “Montpelier” and teammates of Mamuka. Fabien Galthie the main head coach of the club and the captain of the team Fulgence Ouedraogo congratulated to Gorgadze such appraisal and then Georgian Mikheil Nariashvili went to the microphone and he also appraised him. The first-line highlighted the fact that whole Georgia is proud of his success.

“Midi Olympics” rewards rugby players with “Oscar” since 1954. Till that time none of the reps from Eastern Europe have got this award. Even Italian rugby player has never been awarded with this prize. Mamuka Gorgodze made a short and wide-ranging speech:”Thanks to “Midi Olympics” for recognition. Besides I want to thank to my teammates too, without them such success would be impossible to achieve”.

 “Montpelier’ became one of the best French clubs in recent years and played in the final of French championship too. The club went though the ¼ final of “Heineken Cup” and on April 6 it plays against “Clermont”. Georgian player played the biggest role in it and he was relevantly appraised.
