Maia Disconnected, Nana and Sophiko Continue Competing

Legendary Georgian chess player Maia Chiburdanidze (2502) stayed beyond World Championship which is underway in the city of Turkey, Antakya. Other Georgian players Nana Dzagnidze (2551) and Sophiko Khukhashvili (2430) still continue competing.
Many times world champion Maia Chiburdanidze lost first set with Xue Zhao (2474) of China, in the second round in spite of competing with white pieces, she could not manage to win over the opponent and at the 25th moves drew, finally she lost 0.5:1.5.
Dzagnidze and Khukhashvili finished both two sets with drew. Nana drew with Almira Skripchenko (2460) who represents France at the 9th move and as for Sophiko she competing with white pieces drew at the 87th moves with current world champion Aleksandra Kostenyuk (2507) of Russia.
As a result, for going through the next stage Georgians have to win in tiebreak. At the beginning will be held 25-minute set, in case of drew additional 5-minute set will find out winner and if the second micro-match also will end with drew, it will be so called “Guillotine”.
“Guillotine” means the following. At first will be named who will play with white pieces by voting then in case of drew player competing with black pieces will be winner. During “Guillotine” “whites” have 6 minute and “blacks” -5.
It is not known yet, who will be rivals of Georgian players after going through the next stage. Dzagnidze will meet Viktorija Cmilyte (2514) or German Elisabeth Paehtz (2474) and Khukhashvili will meet Lufei Ruan (2480) or Xioawen Zhang (2339) of China.
