Luka Kurtanidze, president of Georgian Wrestling Federation, is satisfied with today’s results of Georgian wrestlers at European Championship which is underway at Tbilisi Sports Palace.

Georgian wrestler Giorgi Edisherashvili won gold medal in 55kg. Vladimer Khinchegashvili won bronze medal in 60kg.

Luka Kurtanidze: I congratulate our boys on this victory. I hope it will not be the first and the last one at this tournament.

- Are you satisfied with today’s result?

- Of course, I am satisfied. One gold and one bronze in two weight classes are not few.

- We expected more from Khinchegashvili who is Olympic silver medal winner.

- Khinchegashvili changed weight and moved from 55 to 60kg. So, it is great success. I am a former sportsman and I know how hard it is to change weight. Believe me, bronze medal is a great success for the first attempt.

- What can you say about yesterday? Our wrestlers showed bad result. They lost the first fights and disappointed fans.

- Yesterday was a lesson for us. You cannot achieve success in all weight classes. We will learn from our mistakes and I hope we will achieve success at the upcoming tournament…

…”World Sport” asked Levan Kipiani, minister of Sport and Youth Affairs, to make a comment: “Georgia has always been rich with talented wrestlers. I hope our country will have titled wrestlers in future too. Giorgi Edisherashvili will be one of them. He brought the first gold medal to the Georgian delegation today”.
