Liparteliani Named Seven Sportsmen for Antalya

Soso Liparteliani, head coach of Georgian judo team, named those judokas who will participate in World Team Championship which will be held in Antalya on October 30-31. Georgian team will leave for Turkey with 7 sportsmen on Friday, at dawn. There are 5 weight classes at team championship - 66, 73, 81, 90 and heavyweight.
It was doubtful whether Georgians participate in World Championship. According to the information of International Judo Federation, Georgian team was not in the list for Antalya because the list was made with individual results of World and European Championships. According to Giorgi Aleksidze, acting president of Georgian Judo Federation, he talked to Marius Vizer, president of International Federation, and he was given consent to participate in the championship. Though, official website has not changed the old list yet. It is known, that 8 teams will fight for World Team Championship. Japan, South Korea, France, Russia, Mongolia, USA, Turkey and Egypt were in preliminary list. If organizers left the number of participants the same, then Georgia would substitute one of the teams. Perhaps, the number will be increased.
"We do not know, which teams will be our opponents. We will find out this after arriving in Turkey. As for the staff, 2-2 sportsmen will wrestle in 2 weight classes, one judoka will wrestle in 3 weight classes. Unfortunately, two members Amiran Papinashvili (66 kg) and Levan Tsiklauri (81 kg) will not be able to compete in the tournament because of injuries" - stated Soso Liparteliani to "World Sport".
Here is the staff of the team: 66 kg - Davit Asumbani, 73 kg - Nugzar Tatalashvili, 81 kg - Avtandil Chrikishvili and Khvicha Khutsishvili, 90 kg - Varlam Liparteliani, +100 kg - Zviad Khanjaliashvili and Lasha Gujejiani.
