Half Point behind Three Leaders

Six rounds were held at the Nakhchivan Open. Mikheil Mchedlishvili (2640) and Levan Pantsulaia (2556) have the best results from the Georgian chess players. They are in the 11th-13th places with 4.0-4.0 points.

Zurab Javakhadze (2448) is in the 25th place with 3.5 points. Bachana Morchiashvili (2377) and Giga Kuparadze (2489) are in the 32nd-34th places with 3.0-3.0 points.

The Azerbaijani tournament has 3 leaders who have 4.5-4.5 points: Igor Kurnosov (Russia, 2649), Eltaj Safarli (Azerbaijan, 2644) and Alexander Khalifman (Russia, 2614).

In the 7th round Pantsulaia will play against Sergei Zhigalko of Belarus (2656) with white pieces. Mchedlishvili will play against Aleksandr Shimanov of Russia (2639) with black pieces.

The Azerbaijani tournament is based on Swiss system and it will end up on May 1. Prize money of the tournament is 60 000 USD. Champion will win 10 000 USD. The prize money will be distributed to 30 chess players.
