Leonidze Stood on the Pedestal of "European Cup"

 

Irine Leonidze (+78kg), member of the Georgian women’s judo team, won bronze medal at “European Cup” in the city of Germany, Sindelfingen. In the main draw the Georgian heavyweight defeated Tania Ferrera of Italy by yuko. But then Irine lost to Kristin Buessow of Germany. In repechage final the Georgian beat Dounia Berraheil of France by two waza-aris.

Besides Leonidze, Shorena Sharadze (63kg) and Nino Odzelashvili (70kg) wrestled on the German tatami too. Sharadze held two fights and lost all of them. In the main draw the Georgian lost to Tina Trstenjak of Slovenia and in repachage she lost to Marit De Gier of Holland. Odzelashvili was one win away from Top 3. In ¼ final Nino defeated Anne-Katrin Lisewski of Germany by ippon. But then she lost to Anka Pogacnik of Slovenia by ippon. In “bronze final” the Georgian lost to Heide Wollert of Germany and finally, took the fifth place.
