3 days of World Championship for Greco-Roman style wrestlers finished so that members of Georgian team could not stand on the pedestal. The last round was held yesterday. Wrestlers of 74 kg wrestled on the mat. After 6 unsuccessful matches, leader of the team Manuchar Kvirkvelia managed to improve mood of fans but... European, World and Olympic champion defeated only one opponent. After voting he started participation from the second round where he beat Mayli Raul Consuegra Panfe of Cuba in two sets and went through the 1/8 final. In the 1/8 final he lost against Neveb Zugaj of Croatia. Zugaj could not go through the final and Kvirkvelia lost a chance to fight for bronze medal. Selcuk Cebi of Turkey who beat Zugaj became champion. He defeated Armenian Arsen Julfalakyan in the final. Daniar Kobonov of Kirgisistan and Russian Imil Sharafetdinov won bronze medals.
In total, Georgian team collected 10 points and shared the 17th and the 18th places with Sweden. Russia gained the best points - 46. We remind you, that hosts of the championship managed to win only one gold medal. Georgian Ambako Vachadze (66 kg) wrestling in the name of Russia stood on the highest step of the pedestal.
Yesterday women started participation in the championship. Champions and prize winners were found out in 2 weight classes. One of the most important events of the day and perhaps, of the whole championship was that Japanese Hitomi Sakamoto (48 kg) won the 6th World Championship.
