After the changes in coaching staff of Georgian national and age freestyle wrestling teams, managers of Georgian Wrestling Federation made the same changes in Greco-Roman teams. Luka Kurtanidze, president of the federation, presented new coaches to mass media at the press conference.
“In February I stated that I would make changes in Greco-Roman teams. It is time to name new coaches. First of all, I want to thank those coaching staffs which headed the teams. Now new strength and energy will come and I am sure this novelty will be good for Georgian wrestling” – stated Luka Kurtanidze and named new coaching staff for three teams:
Otar Tatishvili will head the national team. Badri Khasaia and Zaza Jibladze will be his assistants. Begi Darchia, former coach of the team, will be an advisor to the team. Vazha Kraveishvili and Vladimer Adeishvili, former coaches of the youth and cadet teams, will work on the same position.
Zaza Silagadze will coach the youth team and Davit Benidze – the cadet team. Mukhran Machutadze and Otar Pevadze will help Silagadze and Mamuka Sultanishvili and Khvicha Koridze – Bedinadze.
Bakur Gogitidze, vice-president of the federation, will be appointed as a curator of the national and age teams.
Luka Kurtanidze answered questions of the journalists and stated that these coaches will head the teams till the end of the year. Then, the federation will summarize their work with specialists and new changes will be made. The group will be formed and it will take the national team to the Olympics 2016.
The president of the federation raised a specific requirement to the new coaching staff of the national team.
“The result at World Championship will be considered as satisfactory if we win three medals. One medal at least must be gold. The age teams are requested to do more” – mentioned Kurtanidze.
“World Sport” got interested how duties will be distributed between coaches and advisors. The president of the federation told us everybody will be involved in working process and they will make joint decision on any responsible issue.
After the press conference Begi Darchia, former head coach of the national team and current advisor, stated he accepts the choice of the federation to appoint Otar Tatishvili as a head coach.
Begi Darchia:
“I welcome candidature of Tatishvili. It is good that young people show up in the coaching staff. I have no right not to support them”.
Davit Bedinadze:
“After ending active sports career I became coach. First I worked in Batumi and then in Tbilisi. I coached the cadet team too and I am happy to be offered this job. It is a very responsible work and I will try not to disgrace myself”.
We contacted an advisor of the youth team. Yesterday he took the team to the Borjomi meeting as a head coach.
Vladimer Adeishvili:
“I wrote statement myself. I asked the managers of the federation to let him work till the end of the year. I talked to one of the managers and he game me consent. Now we are holding a two-week meeting in Borjomi. It is one of the most important parts of the preparation plan for European Championship”.
According to Luka Kurtanidze, new coaching staff of the youth team will involve in the Borjomi meeting with Adeishvili in the next few days.
